Charging solution calculator: subscription, buy or rent a charger?

The cheapest charging solution depends on how much you drive and where you charge. A subscription may suit one driver, while another gets lower costs by owning the charger and paying for the electricity by consumption.

Calculate from your everyday life

Enter the kilometres you drive a year and the car’s electricity consumption. Then split the charging between home and public chargers. The calculator includes charging losses, fixed payments, installation and the prices you enter for the solutions.

A subscription only covers what the agreement says. Extra energy mark-ups, specific charging networks and limitations must be handled according to the actual terms. The result shows which costs are included.

How to compare charging solutions

Choose a realistic period

A purchased charger often has a larger upfront payment than a rented solution. Look at both the first year’s payment and the total over the period you expect to use the charger. Include installation in the same way in all scenarios.

Check your consumption

At 15,000 km and 16 kWh per 100 km, the car uses 2,400 kWh at the battery. The energy drawn from the grid is higher when charging has losses. How much higher depends on the chosen assumption.

Then try more public charging or a different mileage. This shows whether a small change in everyday life changes the choice. If you want to plan the charging, the cheapest electricity period calculator can find suitable times before you leave.
