Fence calculator: Find the number of panels, posts and gates
A fence rarely consists of just one length divided by a panel width. Ends, corners and gates change the number of posts and fittings. The calculator combines the runs in a simple plan and shows the materials separately.
Result
Use the actual module size of the fence
The width of a fence panel can be stated as the clear width or as a measurement that is part of a certain post spacing. Use the definition that applies to the chosen product. Otherwise, a small difference can repeat itself along the whole fence.
A shared corner should only be counted once. The result shows how the runs are connected and how many posts each part uses.
How to plan the materials
Enter runs and gates separately
Measure each straight part, and state where it meets another. Gates can require different posts and fittings than ordinary panels. Calculate them according to the manufacturer's instructions; this version calculates fence panels and posts.
Example with a straight fence
Five panels on one open, straight run normally require six post positions in the simple module model. A closed loop or a corner changes the count. The result follows the system you have chosen.
Foundations, post spacing and fastening must suit the product, the height and the conditions on site. The calculator is a quantity plan, not a check of wind load or placement on the property line. Look into the conditions of the project, and check the material list against the supplier's installation instructions before ordering.
